Since the introduction of reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) over 40 years ago, many prosthesis designs have endeavored to improve shoulder pain and function. The biomechanics of RSA continues to be studied and better understood and one of the main topic is humeral lateralization. Prof Matthias Zumstein will show how this parameter influences the classification of reverse shoulder prosthesis into three different types: inlay, semi-inlay and onlay. Moreover, he will explain why humeral lateralization is an important parameter to be evaluated during the preoperative phase to achieve an accurate shoulder replacement.
