SUMMARY:PITFALLS OF TYPE A FEMURS & POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS
DESCRIPTION:Each patient presents with a unique bone morphology and bone quality. Selecting a femoral stem that best matches a patient’s femoral anatomy can potentially improve procedural outcomes. Pre-operative attention should be paid to the patients Dorr index (A\, B\, C) to help a surgeon select a stem that will provide the best likelihood of proximal fixation and avoid distal potting. As such\, we acknowledge that there is no one stem type that can ideally fits all femur types. This webcast will specifically feature a discussion around the pitfalls of Type A femurs if a surgeons stem selection is not tailored to best match the patient’s femoral index. DESCRIPTION:The majority of orthopedic surgeons are now practicing despite the looming pandemic. COVID – 19 put elective procedures at a pause from mid-March through April and many surgeons have spent that time implementing new standard protocols and procedures to remain efficient and compliant in their day-to-day practices. As total joint surgeries have ramped up in the month of June\, many surgeons had to adapt and evolve to patient concerns\, hospital requirements\, staffing issues and much more.
